Great service, best prices(and yes, I checked) with good results. I think the person trashing Shep's has a personal vendetta because her ex works there or something. She didn't pay her bill and blames the shop! You don't get to steal a car and then whine about it. There are countless people that won't go anywhere else and I'm one of them.
Without naming names, my father in-law had been servicing our vehicles at a different shop in mechanicville, and I have always felt not only was he being over-charged, but everytime we brought it in for something it came back with a different problem. (After an oil change, my transmission is shot? what?) I've recently finally got him to stop going to the crooks and he plans on using Sheps as well at my reccomendation.
Wow, I guess I have to give 1 star to warn others to run away as fast as you can. I purchased a car from this shop and thought it was a great deal! Ummm...quickly realized what a money pit I purchased. The owner stated he would fix any issues with the car, however when I brought the car back for the back end constantly swaying he said he fixed the swaying by putting in control arms and that still did not work, swaying continued. Shop owner then stated he fixed some frame thing on the passenger back side, still swaying. Next was told the struts were changed...you guessed it, still swaying like you were on a boat. The back end would kick out every time you hit the slightest bump like you would loose control of the vehicle. Very scary to drive. Needless to say, the car was never fixed and now want to charge me for one of the control arms stating that I agreed to pay for one of them???? I don't think so. I am not paying for something that should have been in working order when I purchased it. Unreal, please do yourself a favor everyone and steer clear of this place. If this is any indication of how they actually do business....they should be closed down. After the fact, of course, when talking with others, they too had similar stories of this place. I obviously should have talked to them prior to purchase. I figured I would do others a favor and warn you now, don't buy or go to this place for any repairs, they are scam artists.
When my Pontiac was stalling, there was a grocery list of things that could have been the reasoning, most expensive being the catalytic converter, least being a fuel filter. Shep said in good conscience, he did not feel right replacing the cat if the issue was as simple as a fuel filter. What mechanic do YOU know that tries to save you money? Every quote that I've gotten has been more than fair, no inflation between quote and payment. He's always honest and I'm more than confident in the work he provides, it will be done correctly, and at a fair price. If your in Mechanicville, Sheps is the ONLY place i would go. Steer clear of any mechanics that start with the letter "H" if you catch my drift.
I've taken two different vehicles to Shep's on a few separate occasions. I agree with the previous poster, the negative comments sound like absolute children. I'm 23 and a female and have NEVER once felt used by Shep.
At first look the place is kinda scary looking, but the owner Mark is a fair priced no frills guy, he's been our family mechanic for years, always completing quality work, quickly for the cheapest rates around.
Shep's owner is a very honest person. He doesn't over charge. When he diagnosed a issue my vehicle had, he would tell you how much it would cost to repair. He always was good to me, honest and the quality of his work was better than Midas, Monro, Firestone, and Warren Tire Goodyear. The few negative comments I have seen on this site sound like 18 to 20 year old kids that are used to Mommy N Daddy paying the bills. Reality strikes, mechanic shops get a hourly rate, I promise you Shep's will bet there price. I am 58 years old, I have seen repair shop prices, Shep's does great work, and will beat big shop prices.
